PREF_region_Ile_de_France_RVB

Together with the Mayor of Paris and the Olympic movement, the French President has decided to extend the Vasque until the Los Angeles Games in 2028. He then entrusted the Prefect of the Ile-de-France region, Prefect of Paris, with the task of coordinating and organizing the work required for its return. Under his aegis and in collaboration with all the players involved, the Vasque, symbol of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, will once again be installed in the Tuileries Gardens and made accessible to the French and foreign public, extending the magic of 2024 into the summers of 2025, 2026 and 2027.

EDF

LOGO_EDF_RVBEDF designed the first electric flame in the history of the Games. With no fuel, composed solely of water and light, this flame embodies the power of electricity to replace fossil fuels. At a time of global warming, the Vasque of the Paris 2024 Games carries a strong message, that of a more responsible future, that of an electric future. EDF teams worked for nearly three years with Paris 2024 on this project to contribute to one of the strong symbols of the Paris 2024 Games. Read more

The Louvre

LOGOTYPE_LOUVRE_NUAGE_MOYEN_FORMATOpen to all since 1793, the Louvre Museum is the first French museum dedicated to the general public. Born of the French Revolution and heir to the great royal collections, this former palace of the kings of France has always lived and evolved in resonance with national and world history.

With 33,000 works displayed over 73,000 m², the Louvre houses collections representative of a world history that has always been one of exchanges and connections, from Antiquity to the 19th century, from America to Asia. The Louvre and the Olympic and Paralympic Games share the same universal vocation.

Beyond the palace stretches the Tuileries Gardens, which have been a breath of fresh air in the heart of Paris for almost five centuries, welcoming millions of visitors every year. It’s a veritable open-air museum of sculpture.

As the epicenter of the festivities for summer 2024, the Louvre and Tuileries national estate played host to the cauldron of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, one of the highlights of this sporting and cultural celebration. The Vasque also pays homage to the first hydrogen-filled gas balloon flight from the Tuileries in 1783. In the arts as in sports, inspiration can be found at the Louvre, and never ceases to nourish the present.

Paris

One year after the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games and a historic opening ceremony on the Seine, the City of Paris intends to keep alive the spirit of sharing, festivity and popularity of the summer of 2024. Alongside the President of the Republic and all the parties involved, the Mayor of Paris wanted the Vasque to once again light up the Parisian sky every night. The City of Paris is thus contributing to the return of this symbol, notably through a major mobilization of the Paris Municipal Police and the involvement of all City departments in the success of this project.

As Host City of the Paris 2024 Games, the City of Paris is also involved in a number of projects designed to bring the popular and symbolic legacy of the Paris 2024 Games to life. In addition to the historic reopening of swimming in the Seine on July 5, the City will be unveiling other strong symbols to Parisians and visitors over the summer, and offering a series of popular, free events as part of the Paris en Seine program to celebrate the first anniversary of the Paris 2024 Games.

COJO / CIO / CNOSF

logo_cnosf_quadri 4One year after welcoming the world, Paris, France and its territories celebrate the living memory of the Games and the values of Olympism, paying tribute to those who embodied them: athletes, sports leaders, volunteers… The French National Olympic and Sports Committee, in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee, is coordinating the Games’ anniversary season, with a series of sporting, cultural, ceremonial and commitment events. The return of the Vasque, an emblematic and major symbol of the Paris 2024 Games, is a key element of these celebrations, which we hope will be enthusiastic and popular!

Blam

atelier-blam-logo-rectangle-2-blanc-scaled

For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Atelier blam was asked to design and manufacture the flame ring for the Olympic cauldron, in collaboration with designer Mathieu Lehanneur and EDF. A monumental work of art, at once a symbol, a technical approach and an ecological manifesto. A long process of aesthetic and technical development around its flying structure and complex machinery, at the crossroads of aeronautics and the art object, was necessary to conceive a large-scale work, capable of living in public space, in the heart of Paris, facing the elements, before everyone’s eyes. A subtle balance between robustness, lightness and visual magic.

Mechanical design, machining, bending, welding, riveting, manufacture of moving parts, electrical innovations: Atelier blam and its partners have mobilized all their expertise to create a unique object, both technical and poetic. The flame-ring thus becomes a contemporary totem, a living presence in the capital’s skyline.

With this project, Atelier blam demonstrates its ability to create unique, large-scale objects, designed for public spaces and conveying strong values: innovation, sustainability and beauty.
